In Print // UPPERCASE Magazine

Late last year I was contacted by Canadian art & design magazine UPPERCASE to photograph local artist Lilla Rogers for their current issue. Lilla’s studio was a visual overload of bright poppy colors and all sorts of cool little details – I was immediately reminded of those I Spy books from when I was a kid. Exploring her workspace with the camera was a great treat, especially in contrast to the gloomy November day outside. A portrait outtake and detail shot of Lilla’s materials can be seen above, and the tear from the magazine is below.

Promo Portraits // Andrew W.K.

Last week I had the opportunity to do a brief portrait shoot with rocker and self-proclaimed ‘King of Partying’, Andrew W.K. before his sold-out Boston show. Andrew and his band are in the middle of an international tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of his iconic debut album, I Get Wet. Although he only had a short time available to shoot, Andrew definitely brought the party! A beer and some faux piñata smashing later, here’s what we came up with…

Editorial // The Painted Burro

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Somerville’s eagerly anticipated Painted Burro for Improper Bostonian. The Mexican restaurant comes from the same team behind nearby Posto, and the dishes taste as great as they look. Pictured above are the achiote-citrus Street Cart Chicken, fish tacos, and the Sierra Madre – an aromatic tequila cocktail with jalapeño and passionfruit. Editorial // Spring Style

It would appear the gorgeous weather this week has taken a cue from recent editorial shoots!
Given the abundance of sun and rising temperatures this week – as well as the official beginning of spring – I thought it would be appropriate to share a few tears of mine from the current Improper Bostonian. The first is an advertorial for CambridgeSide Galleria featuring items from many of the mall’s stores, and the second is a Style piece on light and lacy spring dresses.

Editorial // Mare Oyster Bar

For the current issue of Improper Bostonian Magazine I photographed the newly revamped Mare Oyster Bar in Boston’s North End. In addition to its impressive raw bar, Mare offers, hands down, the largest lobster roll I have ever seen! It’s hard to beat a whole lobster on fresh-baked brioche. If you’re interested in checking them out, I’d recommend going by while the weather is nice, as the dining room windows open up.
